Hockey Manitoba | Female Hockey Festival

February 14 & 15, 2010

The Female Hockey Festival is an event focused on creating a positive hockey experience for females in Manitoba. Development opportunities are provided for Players, Coaches, and Officials in a fun and interactive environment. All of the listed events are free of charge courtesy of Hockey Manitoba!

Hockey Manitoba is also excited to announce that in addition to trained Hockey Manitoba instructors, a number of special guests will take part in the various Female Hockey Festival events in Winnipeg and Brandon including past or present members of:

University of Manitoba Bisons Women's Hockey
Female U-18 Team Manitoba
U-18 or U-22 National Female Team
Female Midget AA teams
Manitoba Women's Junior Hockey League

Olympic and World Champion Sami Jo Small from Winnipeg, MB will be in attendance during the Female Recruitment - Esso Fun Day in Winnipeg on February 14th and World Champion Delaney Collins from Pilot Mound, MB will be in attendance during the Female Skills Camps in Winnipeg on February 15th to take part on the ice and sign autographs for all participants!

Other benefits including Manitoba Moose tickets, lunch, jerseys and other off-ice activities are provided to participants at absolutely NO COST!

Female Recruitment - Esso Fun Day
This event is a hockey development initiatve established to help youth get into the sport of hockey in a low pressure atmosphere. The Recruitment Day consists of on-ice and off-ice sessions that introduce youth to the basic fundamentals of hockey in a fun and safe environment, FREE of charge! This event is only open to girls who are not currently registered within hockey. All participants receive some equipment, lunch, a jersey and 2 Manitoba Moose tickets!

Winnipeg, Feb 14: 5:30 - 7:30PM at MTS Centre (FULL)
Brandon, Feb 15: 1:00 - 3:00PM at Keystone Centre

Female Skills Camps (Registration now closed)
These are FREE one-day camps that focus primarily on fundamental skill development. The players attending the camp will participate in 2 on-ice sessions with expert instruction providing an opportunity to enhance their hockey skills. Participants also have instruction on fair play, respect, training, and teamwork in a classroom setting. All participants receive lunch, a jersey and 2 Manitoba Moose tickets!
Note: Goalies are encouraged to apply as well.

Female Coach Certification Clinic - "We Are Coaches"
Open to all females who would like to get certified and interact with other women in hockey. This clinic is intended for all hockey backgrounds; whether current players, former players or hockey moms we encourage you to take part in this (FREE) special event. All attendees will be fully credited with the Coach Level certification. All participants receive lunch and 2 Manitoba Moose tickets!

Winnipeg, Feb 15: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM at MTS Centre (11:45AM on-ice at MTS Centre) (FULL)

Brandon, Feb 15: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM at Hockey Brandon Office (3:30PM on-ice at Keystone Centre)

Female Officials Seminar
This event will be a development opportunity for female officials in our province. Each official will participate in one-hour on and off ice sessions designed to develop their skills as an official. Some of Hockey Manitoba's elite female officials' will be in attendance to work with the participants. Remember, all participants also receive lunch and 2 Manitoba Moose tickets at no cost!

Mantioba Moose
Female Hockey Festival participants each receive 2 Manitoba Moose tickets FREE courtesy of Hockey Manitoba. All Skills Camp and Recruitment participants will also receive a Moose toque, Moose activity book, a FREE Boston Pizza Kids Meal voucher, and a FREE Skate sharpening voucher. Winnipeg participants will recieve tickets to the Saturday, February 13th Moose game which is "Minor Hockey Night." Brandon Festival participants will have a choice for either February 13th or March 13th Moose tickets. Full ticket information will be provided after January 26th when Festival participants are confirmed.
